My go-to Whites.

It’s always handy to have a handful of whites that are neutral in the undertone and can be drawn upon at any given point. These whites complement a range of colours and don’t throw any crazy undertones.

As a general rule I wouldn’t be considering these whites on the exterior walls of a house, as I believe using a white with more undertone will actually give you a more complex finish as it holds its own in the sun. These rules can be swayed if you have a house that is very shaded as the colour then doesn’t have complete with the sun. They are great for external trims and architectural details and they are great for internal space.

So my go-to whites are, in no particular order.

  • Dulux Vivid White

  • Dulux Natural White

  • Dulux Casper White Quarter

  • Dulux Snowy Mountains Quarter

  • Porters Paint Popcorn

  • Haymes Liveable White

  • Haymes Marble Mist

A simple way to use these whites in your space if you are looking for a space with minimal contrast is to use the same chosen white and just change the sheen levels (walls matt, skirtings and architraves semi-gloss, door gloss, ceilings flat). Even when you use the same colour and change the sheen level they look slightly different due to the light reflection but it ensures you don’t have competing undertones.

Now always remember to get a large paint swatch from your chosen Paint company or a sample pot to see the colour in its truest form but I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with these whites.

This is a brief introduction to to the world of whites, I will be creating a “whites masterclass” eBook, to help guide you through selecting the best white for your home. And the best part, it’s only going to cost the same amount as a sample pot! So watch this space!

xx
