AN UNEXPECTED touch of red theory (Copy)

It's become a viral trend that adding a touch of red unexpectedly to a space instantly enhances it. Red is definitely trending right now; however, I believe this trend has merit. A pop of red has always been used to spruce up a makeup look or complete an outfit, so why can't the theory be applied to an interior?

Here are some examples:

Interestingly, I was listening to a podcast yesterday where they discussed colors and how they affect how people view and interact with you. Wearing red is more likely to grab the attention of those around you—great for those trying to stand out on a dating website. Instead of posting fish photos, guys should consider a profile picture in a red t-shirt. Psychologically, red carries power and influence, so it makes a lot of sense to me that adding a touch of red to a room can add character and interest.

To make this idea work without turning your space into a red room, consider small unexpected touches. Ideas could include red dining chairs, a red picture frame among artworks of a different aesthetic, a quirky red cushion, or a playful red lampshade. The key to this theory is subtlety and surprise.

I also believe this theory applies to other colors; it's about using impactful contrasting colors thoughtfully—avoid overdoing it. Imagine how a bright candy pink vase could stand out in a room dominated by warm neutrals, or how a bright sunshine yellow pillow could inject life into a room with predominantly blue tones.

Ultimately, this trend is a fun and playful way to create interest, and I encourage you to consider how you can do that in your own spaces, even if it doesn't involve anything red.

xx
