Colour BLOCKING - In fashion AND INTERIORS

Colour blocking is a fun and effective way to elevate an outfit and if done correctly can completely transform an interior too.

There are a few reasons why colour blocking works in fashion;

1/ Can help manipulate proportions and scales,

2/ Creates a focus for the outfit,

3/Develop a colour palette that can then be used to incorporate other design features such as patterns and textures.

4/ Even when using bold colours there is a simplicity that comes with colour blocking that creates a sophisticated vibe.

All those elements can be identified as a reason to also colour block in an interior. The way this will work most effectively is if there is a neutral colour within the palette as well to help create visual space.

In the images below the interiors have a base colour (neutral) and then add contrasting blocks of colour to create the following;

- Focal point

- Exaggerate spaces or architectural details

-Create connections between other decor elements.

All of these spaces have a unique style but feel harmonised and sophisticated. The colours have been carefully considered and placed in clever areas of the homes to allow the colours to contrast while also complimenting the space. And as you can see by using the colour block technique it is a clever way to weave a colour story through your home - using colours to connect and shape spaces.

Keep dreaming, Keep creating. xx
